Formal education began when the first school house was built in 1869 and served as the town's school until the 1950's. In l957 a new high school was built. The Class of 1958 was the first class to graduate from the new Whiteland High School.

Clark High School and Whiteland High School united to form one school corporation in 1965.

1960 saw construction of Break-O-Day Elementary School. Clark-Pleasant Middle School and Whiteland Elementary were opened in 1970 and 1976 respectively. Clark Elementary, formally know as Clark High School, was built in 1911.
