Mission Statement:

The mission of the Whiteland Fire Department is to provide exceptional public service and incident mitigation to the local and surrounding communities. This is done through ongoing training, staffing, prevention, and education while keeping up with the changing demands of the growing communities that we serve.

About:

The Whiteland Fire Department was established in 1954 as a volunteer fire department. Whiteland has had a fire department serving much longer before this. The fire department served as a volunteer only fire department until merging under the town of Whiteland in June of 2016. This merger allowed the Town of Whiteland to take oversight of the department. In 2020 the fire department staff all officially became Town of Whiteland employees with around the clock staffing for the fire department.

The Whiteland Fire Department serves not only the incorporated areas of the Town of Whiteland but serves unincorporated areas of the old Whiteland Fire Protection District. Serving a population over 6000 within a service area of over 20 square miles , the Whiteland Fire Department is a full mitigation agency responding to fire, EMS, rescue, HAZMAT, and other calls for service. The fire department has 1 Primary Engine, 1 Reserve Engine, 1 Ladder Truck, 1 Heavy Rescue, 1 Tanker Truck, 1 Squad, 3 Staff Officer Vehicles, 2 Support Vehicles, and 1 MERV all housed from our only station.

ISO Class:

The Whiteland Fire Department currently holds an ISO rating of 5/5Y. The ISO rating is used by insurance providers to determine homeowners and businesses insurance rates. Every few years the fire department undergoes a review of apparatus, staffing, water supply, training, equipment, and communications systems to either maintain our current rating or to improve to a better rating resulting in better rates for our community.
